“I was lucky enough to work with Michael on Warp Films’ three half hour’ dramas for Sky Arts’ ‘Playhouse Presents’. I produced one of the dramas - ‘The Minor Character’ written by Will Self, starring David Tennant while Michael was the line producer across all three shows. There was an extremely tight schedule with almost no pre-prep time and the budgets were challenging to say the least! Each drama was quite different with different cast and locations. And while there was every attempt to employ economies of scale, one of the dramas was shot in Newcastle upon Tyne versus the other two in the London area. I worked closely with Michael as he set up the budget and schedule for all three and I found him a great communicator, incredibly thorough, imaginatively problem-solving and sensitive to the director’s vision while also being extremely responsible to the production company. Michael is a great team-player. He also commanded huge respect from both above and below the line members of the unit. We didn’t have an easy shoot but Michael was a great support and as a result we managed to coordinate efforts to negotiate our way through tricky situations and laugh about it afterwards. From his credits, it’s clear, Michael has a very wide range of experience as line producer and - budgeting and shooting in the U.K. and abroad, smaller and larger projects.
